Flight Log

OceansCoast World Tour

My log below showcased key moments of the trip navigating the United States coastline and back through Canada.

My journey begins in North America. On December 17th, 2022 I depart from Williamsburg, Virginia airport (KJGG) in a Cessna 310R. The anniversary of the first flight by the Wright Brothers. This was the start of a journey around the world with a focus on continent coastline cities with inland flights to catch interesting places. I start out and head for Kitty Hawk. Learning Flight Simulator in time to take-off on this date was challenging, but accomplished. My 2023 destination was Barter Island, Alaska.

As I am flying down the eastern coast over the summer I run into some bad storms. During one landing at night I hit some terrible crosswinds and barely get the plane down on the runway. I’m still really learning to fly. I use live weather so I deal with what ever that days challenges are flying.

Over the summer I fly around the Florida coastline. I fly the Kodiak seaplane and execute multiple water landings at some great resorts.

As I hit New Orleans downtown where I worked and lived for a few years I decide to buzz the city in the Cessna 310R and attempt flying under a bridge.

August 13, 2023 I land at Barter Island, Alaska in a Cirrus Vision Jet. This aircraft and the Longitude are the only Jets I’ve learned to fly at this point.

Realizing I now need to learn to fly commercial airliners I spend the next 90-120 days learning the FlyByWire A320 with the intent of flying across the Northwest Territories, Canada, and Newfoundland down the upper east coast to Norfolk, Virginia to complete the North America phase of the world tour.

Current Flight Plan – I depart December 24 from Deadhorse Alaska in the Airbus A320 airliner, My route back to Virginia is to fly south into Canada, then fly across Canada to the upper east coast. I’ll head south and follow the coastline back to Williamsburg in time for the New Years! LOL
